Terry and Jeff Wright

At the November 15, 1999 Niederwald Town Meeting, Fire Chief Terry Wright, of the Niederwald Volunteer Fire Department, was presented a plaque in honor of his ten years of service.  Presenting the plaque is Chief Wright's brother and fellow volunteer fireman Jeff Wright.

The Niederwald Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1973. Our main station is located at 8809 Niederwald Strasse on land donated by Charter Members Mr. and Mrs. David Schubert, Sr. In 1995 the current 3-bay station replaced the original station. Station II is located on Appaloosa Drive in Hays County on land donated by Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Morse. In 1998 Station III became the quarters of Engine 93 and is located in Mendoza, Caldwell County. As of 1998 our equipment includes a 1993 Chevy HD 3500 Brush Truck, which also carries the "Jaws of Life" rescue tool. Caldwell County’s Tanker 1, a 5000-gallon water supply truck, is assigned to Niederwald Station I. In addition, a Pierce Engine Pumper is housed at Station III. With the acquisitions of newer and better equipment, the Niederwald Volunteer Fire Department is ready to serve you in the year 2000 and beyond. We look forward to protecting your homes, property, and your loved ones. Our 1999 officers are Jeffrey Wright, President; Clarence "Bud" Morse, Vice-President; Tonya Wright, Secretary; Molly Cole, Treasurer; Terry Wright, Chief; and Derek Herring, Assistant Chief. Our hard working volunteer firemen include Chief Terry Wright, Assistant Chief Derek Herring, Captain Jeffrey Wright, Captain "Bud" Morse, Captain Nick Cole, firefighters Tonya Wright, Stephen Gregory, Michael Cartwright, and Ashley Dotson. Emergency Medical Services are provided to area residents by our Caldwell County Medical Assist Team (CCMAT) members and Lockhart EMS for Caldwell County residents and San Marcos EMS for Hays County residents. Our current CCMAT membership in the Niederwald area includes Terry Wright, Derek Herring, Bud Morse, Bea Morse, Richard Morse, Jeffrey Wright and Tonya Wright. The fire department holds fundraisers throughout the year and we invite you to attend all of our events. Our yearly events include Membership Drive, NVFD Turkey Shoot, Fruling Fest, and Halloween Festival Night. You are welcome to join us for any of our events. Contact Chief Terry Wright (398-4446), if you are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter. Contact Molly Cole, Treasurer, (398-4314) if you are interested in becoming a member of the fire department and/or making a donation.
